New Delhi: Thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have called for Bharat Bandh (nationwide strike) on Tuesday to press for repeal of the new agriculture laws. The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) had asserted that the strike would start at 11 AM and end at 3 PM as they don’t want to cause inconvenience to the public. BKU Spokesperson Rakesh Tikait had also assured that essential services will not be curtailed and office-goers can move freely during the bandh. However, as a part of stir, they will block key roads in the national capital.

Meanwhile, the Union government has sent an advisory to the different states and UTs to tighten security and maintain peace and harmony within their respective territories. “The state governments and UT administrations must ensure that the Covid-19 guidelines with regard to health and social distancing are strictly followed,” the Home Ministry advisory read. New Delhi: The farmers’ protest at several Delhi borders entered its twelfth day on Monday. The protesting Kisan unions have announced to observe Bharat Bandh on December 8 against the centre’s new agricultural laws. The Kisan unions will observe all-India strike from 11 am to 3 pm on Tuesday.

Earlier, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who was denied permission to visit Kanaauj the hold his party’s ‘Kisan Yatra’, breached the security cordon and staged a dharna in heart of Lucknow to express solidarity with the farmers. The UP Police detained Yadav for violating the Sectio 144 of the CrPC also.

rollback of Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce(Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, The Farmer (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price and Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020 also. The agitating ‘Kisans’ who have held five round of ‘inconclusive’ talks
with the Government also want the rollback of the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020 also.
